The Maryland Zoo
In Baltimore
The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is a great day trip for you and your family, whether you live in or around Baltimore or are visiting out of state. And it's only 10 minutes away from downtown Inner Harbor which also has plenty to see and do.
The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore has come a long way since I was in grade-school and is continuing to update and add fabulous exhibits, such as Africa which has beautiful landscaping and the feel of actually walking through an African safari.
Just some of the many animals you will see in the Africa exhibit are the cheetahs, elephants, lions, and giraffes.
Another exhibit that is fun for the children is Kids Zone which is rated the #1 children's zoo. Leap on lily pads like the frogs do, explore a small cave to view live bats and head over to the petting zoo.
There are so many wonderful and adorable animals to see. My favorite would have to be the polar bear. It has such a wonderful personality and loves to play just like a kid. It loves to swim laps in the water. Just watch out for the beach ball!
The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore has over 2,000 animals so I am, of course, not able to name every animal, you will have to go and see for yourself!
Here is the link to The Maryland Zoo. It lists important information that you may want to know before visiting, such as directions and admission fee. One word of advice, arrive at the zoo as soon as it opens.
