St. Michaels, Maryland

Discovered before 1658, St. Michaels, Maryland was once a thriving colonial village made up of ship builders and tobacco growers.  Later, including seafood distribution of mostly blue crabs and oysters.
St. Michaels, Maryland today is like stepping back in time.  Walk along the narrow streets past quaint, restored historic homes.  Listen to the bell chime at the local village church as you make your way in and out of the many antique, gift, country charm, and marina themed shops.
St. Michaels, being such an historic area, has many historic sites to visit, such as St. Mary's Square, The Amelia Welby House, Hell's Crossing, Col. Joseph Kemp House and much more.
There are marinas that offer water tours and water taxi service.
For dinner, dine at one of the local seafood restaurants for seafood that's out of this world!  End the night by resting your head at one of the many historic homes that are now a bed and breakfast.
Every season in St. Michaels has something to offer.  My favorite would have to be in December, when the spirit of Christmas is in the air and there is a slight chill blowing in from the waters.  The streets are all decorated for the holidays, including the shops and restored homes.  Christmas music can be heard all along the streets.  There is an event happening every weekend, including the lighted boat parade, which is wonderful to see with the lights reflecting off the water.
St. Michaels, Maryland is a nice little weekend get away for those who love history and for those who also want a relaxing weekend by the bay.
